Tidings of joy: Lovehoney launches first Christmas ad focused on the Big O

Leading sexual wellness brand Lovehoney is entering the festive season with a bang as it launches its first ever Christmas advert, showing on television from 6 November.

The brand teamed up with creative agency Leith to create the ad, which uses authentic reviews and real customer experiences to showcase the joy of both giving and receiving this Christmas.

Featuring two couples and a single woman celebrating the joy of choosing Lovehoney products as Christmas present, the advert script uses comments based on real reviews left on the site such as “wow, wow this toy sent me to space”, and “it’s… orgasamazing”.

The move marks Lovehoney’s first ever Christmas-specific advertisement, with the aim of underlining its commitment to sexual wellness for all.

It comes after the brand marked its first pre-9pm advert with Womanizer Wave after having to work within strict guidelines to produce an ad that could be shown on daytime television – the first time a sex toy company has managed the feat.

Lovehoney head of international marketing planning Elaine Sosna described the Christmas advert as “yet another important step in the journey to destigmatise sexual wellbeing”.

She added that “seeing a Lovehoney commercial alongside other adverts will show how normal it is to give or receive a sex toy as a gift, and how much better your sex life could be as a result”.

“Everyone knows Lovehoney are the absolute arbiters of pleasure – if you don’t believe us, read the reviews,” explained Leith copywriter and art director Mair Wilson and Debbie Morgan.

“It was a joy to work with the team to bring some of these witty (and wild) reviews to life and show why you really won’t have to shop anywhere else this Christmas,” they added.
