Watch: M&S reveals star-studded 2023 Christmas TV campaign

M&S has released its star-studded Christmas clothing and home advert, ‘Love Thismas, Not Thatmas’, which focuses on celebrating the things consumers love about the season.

Featuring a roster of well-known British talent, including Hannah Waddingham, Zawe Ashton, Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Tan France, the advert was created by newly-appointed creative agency Mother London.

Marks and Spencer's (M&S) has unveiled its star-studded Christmas clothing and home advert, which focuses on celebrating the things we love about holidays, here depicting a celebrity painstakingly decorating a gingerbread house.

Showcased across TV, ‘Love Thismas, Not Thatmas’ encourages viewers to join in and think about what makes the festive season work best for them.

Directed by director Ally Pankiw, the 80-second advert includes a cover of Meatloaf’s ‘I Would Do Anything for Love (But I Won’t Do That)’ – re-recorded by artist and singer-songwriter Ray BLK – and unfolds across the celebrities’ four different homes.

The advert – which leans heavily into the comedy angle – shows each star facing a classic Christmas dilemma, designed be a relatable reference to the pressures faced during the festive season.

“I’m sure everyone watching our ad will be able to relate to our fabulous cast of talent who so hilariously bring-to-life those little moments and dilemmas we all have at Christmas time!” said M&S clothing and home marketing director, Anna Braithwaite.

“Before we created Love Thismas (Not Thatmas), we spoke to hundreds of our customers and they all told us that, at Christmas, they feel this pressure of having to worry about and plan so many things.

“We know it can often feel like the list is never-ending so this year we decided to celebrate and empower our customers to just do the things they love.”

M&S Christmas clothing campaign is just the beginning of the holiday season for the retailer, as anticipation builds for its classic M&S food adverts, due to be released later this week.
