The campaign, which aims to ensure the 9 million low-income UK renters can stay in their homes, was promoted by a van bearing the text ‘Rishi’s Removals – Driving families out of their homes’.

Driving up to Palace Gate at Westminster London, the van – devised and executed by the7stars agency – was designed to make clear the key issue the prime minister needs to address, as he prepares for his first PMQs since the summer recess.

To complete the stunt, ‘workmen’ wearing Rishi Sunak masks were seen driving the van around the various Westminster spots, while the van itself sported a QR code for passers-by to be redirected to the campaign page.

The street paper and social enterprise‘s campaign comes with a three-point manifesto, calling for an unfreezing of Local Housing Allowance (LLHA), a reformed Universal Credit and the bringing forward of the renters reform bill.

“Sadly, we at the Big Issue are witnessing the strain of renters across the UK trying to make ends meet,” said Big Issue Group chief marketing officer, Zoe Hayward.

“We would like to thank the team at the7stars for their creativity and commitment to delivering this eye-catching stunt to highlight the government’s inaction and call for people to sign our petition to make change”

the7stars creative director, Mark Robinson, added: “9 million is an unacceptable number of vulnerable renters who deserve protection and the right to a roof over their head.

“We partnered with the team at the Big Issue Group because we believe their ‘End Housing Insecurity Now’ campaign will push for the government policy changes that are so urgently needed.”

This latest creative follows the success of the Big Issue Group’s giant 3D front street mural, ‘This Street is my store’.
