Adam&EveDDB hires Cannes Lions Grand Prix winning creative pair

Adam&EveDDB has hired Cannes Lions Grand-Prix-winning creative team Charlotte Upton and Callum McDonald, who will join from Auckland-based Colenso BBDO.

The pair secured the prestigious Grand Prix in Radio at this year’s awards for their ‘Skinny “Phone It In”‘ campaign, and have worked on a range of major international brands including Mars, WWF, and Spark. They will report jointly into executive creative directors, Ant Nelson and Mike Sutherland.

“Charlotte & Callum are a force to be reckoned with. In the short period of time they’ve been in the industry they’ve made some really interesting, different shaped work and we couldn’t be happier to have them at the agency,” Nelson and Sutherland said.

McDonald commented: “150 years ago my ancestors spent six terrifying months sailing from Britain to New Zealand to secure a better life for them and their descendants. It was all for nothing because I’m back to make some ads for the top creative agency in the UK. I’m sure they’d understand.”

Upton added: “We’re ready to learn a lot from the talented folks at adam&eveDDB, ride a Boris bike and for our accents to become a muddled, confused mess.”

The news follows hot on the heels of a new business win for the London agency, which has been selected by product design and tech firm SharkNinja to design a series of idents for its new sponsorship of flagship ITV daytime show This Morning.

Brokered by EssenceMediacom, the partnership will look to highlight the ‘unique nature’ of SharkNinja’s home appliance proposition, which includes vacuum cleaners, hair stylers, indoor and outdoor ovens, food blenders and air fryers.
