WACL rolls out next stage of mentorship programme to inspire female leaders

WACL is launching the next stage of its Talent Mentoring Programme, which aims to support the next generation of female leaders into senior leadership roles.

The initiative enables participants to get close access to some of the UK’s most accomplished and insightful women, who will share their personal experiences and life lessons.

The mentorship scheme will match up each mentee with four mentors who are uniquely placed to share relevant lessons from their experiences and expertise, including Karen Blackett OBE, Lucky Generals founder Helen Calcraft and Publicis Media CEO Sue Frogley.

“We hear how transformative mentorship is for mentees and their mentors and it has never been more crucial to ensure we support the next generation of female leaders in the industry,” said Allplants chief brand officer and WACL talent committee chair, Shelley Macintyre.

“This time around we have more mentors than ever before. Thank you to each and every one of them for offering their time and enabling us to deliver our farthest-reaching programme to date; impacting even more mentees so positively.”

“We match each individual with four women whose experience and expertise will enable them to provide professional and emotional support as well as an independent perspective that is invaluable in helping mentees identify and champion their potential,” Macintyre continued.

“It is a brilliant example of women lifting up other women at many different points in their unique career journeys.”

Macintyre went on to explain that women are still “woefully under-represented” at the most senior levels in advertising and communications. WACL aims to improve female representation, address the persistent gender pay gap and create a more inclusive culture.

“This programme absolutely transformed my mindset and gave me the guidance and confidence I needed to take a step change in my career,” she added.

Lasting four months, the programme will help inspire participants to succeed and offer them a forum to discuss barriers to progression in the workplace. WACL mentees will also benefit from a one hour, one-to-one video session with each of their mentors over the four-month period.
