KFC teams with up TikTok star GK Barry for new Teriyaki burger launch

KFC has tapped TikTok sensation GK Barry for the launch of its new Japanese-inspired Teriyaki burger and bites, available from today (24 July).

Developed in collaboration with London agency Mother, the campaign is spearheaded by a tongue-in-cheek 30-second spot that celebrates the fast food firm’s breezy tie-up with the internet star.

With the hero film running across linear TV, the campaign will be further supported by a range of social media executions. The new items will be available on the KFC menu through to 3 September.

“Absolutely buzzing to be starring in the sauciest ad of the year to launch the banging new Teriyaki Burger and Bites!” GK Barry said.

“The Colonel’s handed over the reins and I’m renaming this sweet, sticky delight ‘The Barryaki’. Get down to KFC before it’s too late!”

Featuring KFC’s iconic ‘Original Recipe’ fillet and pickled slaw, teriyaki sauce is added to the mix for the very first time on its menu, all tied together by a fluffy brioche bun.

  • It’s a load of tosh

  • Everyone I know hasn’t a clue who she is and thought it was the bariyaki burger because it makes you fat ie bariyaki being short for barriatric teriyaki…….not the image they want I shouldn’t think. Nobody I know is trying one either for that reason.
