Cadbury Dairy Milk has released its latest story in the IPA Grand Prix award-winning ‘There’s a Glass and a Half in Everyone’ series, ‘Speakerphone’.

The film is the fifth in the series and builds upon the success of previous spots – including last year’s ‘most effective ad of 2022’, ‘Garage’.

Featuring a man sitting in a parked car, pensively reflecting on his first day at work, the film sees the protagonist’s son offer him a bar of chocolate as reassurance.

Directed by Steve Rogers, who also directed ‘Garage’, the TV spot stays true to Cadbury Dairy Milk’s storytelling formula of shining a light on the relationships between people and meaningful moments of connection.

Cadbury and Toblerone head of global brand, Jonathan McCarthy, said: “The Glass and a Half in everyone campaign is a big brand idea that serves as a platform for powerful stories and ‘Speakerphone’ is a more than worthy addition to the series.”

He added: “Speakerphone brings fresh perspective with different relationship dynamics and narrative structure whilst staying true to the core elements that makes the campaign so successful.”

VCCP London executive creator directors, Chris Birch and Jonny Parker commented: “We have a lot of love for Speakerphone, the fifth film in the glass and a half in everyone series. It’s probably the simplest, and yet the most ambitious, given the feeling we’re after using just one (rather brilliant) actor and a phone.”

The film launches in the UK in June and will run across TV, broadcaster video-on-demand and YouTube.
