Aldi UK’s marketing director Adam Zavalis has left the company after close to three years in his post as he looks for a ‘new challenge’.
Zavalis announced the news this morning in a LinkedIn post. He has yet to confirm where he is going, but wrote that he “wanted to take time to reflect” and would be taking “a few months of time with [his] family” before “re-charging” and “taking on a new challenge that [he is] incredibly excited about.”
His departure signals the third by one of the German discount grocer’s marketing team this year, after co-marketing director Sean McGinty left Aldi for Dunelm in April, followed by group director of marketing and communications, David Hills who joined Asda.

Reflecting on his second stint at Aldi (after an initial six year spell from 2013-2019), Zavalis said: “I want to thank everyone in the UK & Ireland (and internationally) who I’ve worked with and learnt so much from over the years as well as thank all my friends and colleagues across Facilities (esp the receptionists, caretakers and cleaners), Communications, Customer Services, Ahead, Buying, Store Operations, Quality, CR, Merchandising, Brand, HR, Logistics, Finance and IT as we collectively achieved so much together over the course of the last decade.
Concluding, he added: “I also want to thank the senior leadership – I’ll never forget what they did for me and my family and I wish them well.”
