The news comes days after the broadcaster released an advertisement ahead of the song contest’s semi finals.

The ‘Welcome to Liverpool’ film featured the likes of celebrity baker Paul Hollywood, Ukrainian Everton footballer Vitalii Mykolenko, Liverpool FC women’s footballers Sofie Lungaard and Emma Koivisto, actor Ricky Tomlinson, Ukrainian Strictly Come Dancing star Nikita Kuzmin and Drag Race UK contestant Sister Sister.

The ad followed the story of a young Liverpudlian boy who travels across the host city to tell his family, friends and neighbours that the ‘world’s greatest music competition’ is arriving.

One of the famous scousers who also appeared in the emotive film was the late Paul O’Grady, who reportedly starred in the film just before he passed away last month. His appearance was agreed with the blessing of his family and friends.

Several brands have also released Eurovision inspired campaigns ahead of the event, including Booking.com, Deliveroo, Foxy Bingo and Tesco.
