MarTech industry leaders will debate digital skills crisis in parliament

Marketing technology industry leaders have been invited to parliament to debate on the UK’s digital skills crisis.

Chaired by former business minister Dean Russell MP, the ‘Closing the Tech Skills Gap’ summit will see key figures from Britain’s tech industry gather to discuss strategies to fill the country’s growing skills gap.

Key speakers at the event – scheduled for 28 March – will include Bordeaux & Burgundy founder Alfie Dawson, The Digital Poverty Alliance chief operating officer Elizabeth Anderson, VeUP CEO James Campanini, Zoho UK head Sachin Agrawal, and FDM Group director consultant talent Kate Hawthorn.

According to government data, around 82% of all jobs in the UK deem digital skills to be a ‘key requirement’. Employers reportedly struggled to fill one-third of vacancies last year due to lack of digital competency, highlighting a significant discrepancy between skill supply and demand in the UK.

“Tech skills are a key driver in business growth, and it’s absolutely vital that we are upskilling and reskilling workers from all walks of life to meet this growing demand,” Bordeaux & Burgundy founder Alfie Dawson said. “From the classroom to the boardroom, sharing and developing key skills in areas such as SaaS, coding and cyber should be a top priority for businesses looking to accelerate growth and stay ahead of the competition.”
