Spotify opens ‘Greasy Tunes’ cafe to bring fans and artists closer together

Music streaming service Spotify has opened a pop-up ‘greasy spoon’ cafe in Shoreditch, cleverly named ‘Greasy Tunes’ in the hopes of bringing fans and creators closer together.

The Greasy Tunes cafe opened earlier this week, and has been giving fans the chance to meet their favourite artists and sample traditional British fast food.

Guests were invited to listen to interviews, podcasts and performances from established as well as up-and-coming artists, whilst tucking into a full English breakfast.

Spotify’s cafe was designed to appeal to their core millennial and gen z audiences, with research indicating that over 70% of gen zers use audio to better understand themselves.

“With the new generation of listeners turning to audio more than ever, the audio streaming platforms today face a new challenge – understanding and connecting with Gen Z audiences,” Spotify UK and Ireland head of consumer marketing, Olga Puzanova said.

“We know that Gen Z are looking for more than just a lean-back listening experience: they look for brands and products that allow for lean-forward engagement and emotional connection.

“And this is exactly what the ‘Greasy Tunes’ experience offers – real connection to their favourite creators in a fun, intimate, immersive setting.”
