Global insurance company Hiscox has appointed Fiona Mayo as its new UK marketing director in a bid to expand its reach to new audiences.
Hiscox prides itself in being a ‘respected specialist insurer’ with a diverse portfolio by product and geography, employing up to 3,000 people in 14 countries.
Later this month, Mayo will join the firm and be responsible for driving and developing the business’ UK marketing and brand strategy, ‘building affinity’ with new audiences and increasing the growth of its digital channel.
The news comes weeks after Allianz unveiled a new global brand platform, ‘Prepared for Life’, in a bid to dispel morbid stereotypes surrounding insurance.
Leading a team of 20, Hiscox’s new marketing director will report to the company’s interim CEO Stéphane Flaquet.

Mayo has over 20 years of experience in the industry, leading SSE Energy Services and OVO marketing teams during her career.
“Fiona is a strong addition to the team and will play an important part in delivering the next chapter of our marketing and brand strategy here in the UK. Her diverse experience and innovative marketing approach are a great match for our growth ambitions,” Hiscox UK interim CEO Stéphane Flaquet said.
Prior to working for SSE Energy Services, Mayo also worked for Vodafone UK as the head of marketing communications.
Mayo herself added: “The opportunities ahead for Hiscox are immense and I look forward to working with colleagues across the business to build on the powerful brand and marketing heritage that has helped turn the business into the insurance force it is today.”
“Digital innovation can help support our customers through challenging times and I believe we can place Hiscox at the forefront of that innovation, with effective marketing that supports our ambition.”
