Blowing down bricks with Weetabix: Big Bad Wolf campaign

Weetabix has launched its most recent TV campaign, adding a twist to the classic tale of the ‘three little pigs and the big bad wolf’.

Collaborating with creative agency BBH, the new animation spot sees the Big Bad Wolf blow down the pigs’ houses once again, but this time he is fuelled exclusively by Weetabix.

The 20-second advertisement will serve as a nostalgic trip down memory lane for many viewers but it is clear that the cereal company has added contemporary aspects to the tale, with a phone charging in one of the pig’s houses.

“‘Have you had yours?’ has become part of our nation’s everyday language, and our mission with BBH is to create campaigns as memorable as our slogan. With ‘Wolf,’ we think we have achieved just that,” Weetabix head of marketing Gareth Turner said.

“We continue to lead investment in the cereal category to ensure Weetabix remains front of mind throughout the nation with those looking for a nutritious and affordable breakfast. This fun and the memorable advert is part of our next wave of marketing.”

Debuting on TV today, the annual marketing spend of the campaign has been reported to be £14 million.

BBH deputy executive creative director, Felipe Guimaraes, added: “Weetabix has a long and popular history of taking famous and legendary stories and tearing up the script, which is why these campaigns are always brilliant fun to work on. The truth is anyone can benefit from a Weetabix breakfast – even the Big Bad Wolf.”

  • If weetabix is such a great food why does the wolf have to kill and eat the poor pigs, try explaing that to my kids…..
