Lenovo and Stella McCartney collaborate on new sustainable fashion project

Global tech giant Lenovo has teamed up with iconic fashion designer Stella McCartney to curate a sustainable fashion design course for masters student at London’s Central Saint Martins Arts University.

The course will be focused on exploring the relationship between fashion and technology and will look to “inspire and empower” the next generation of sustainable fashion designers.

McCartney will work with 38 masters students who will be tasked with examining how technology and fashion relate to one another and will aim to create a “sustainable solution pushing the boundaries of where they intersect”.

London agency Neverland spearheaded the project’s inception and implementation, carrying out negotiations and the related promotional campaign.

As part of the Chinese multinational’s sponsorship of the course, it will provide all 38 students with PCs from its latest “Yoga” range.

At the conclusion of the project, McCartney will personally select a student of her choice who will be offered a three-month internship at her fashion firm, in a department of their choosing.

Through its involvement in the project, Lenovo aims to show its commitment to its vision of becoming net-zero by 2050. By 2026, the brand will also aim to produce PCs made solely of post-consumer recycled materials.

“A progressive luxury brand, Stella McCartney has always looked to the future, and I know that Lenovo is as keen about protecting the planet as I am”, Stella McCartney said.

“Together we are excited to be able to support the next generation of talent in developing something entirely new in sustainable fashion, and I cannot wait to see the results!”

Lenovo VP of design innovation Brian Leonard added: “At Lenovo, we are always striving to create innovative and smarter solutions to build a more sustainable future, which is why collaborating with Stella McCartney and Central Saint Martins felt so right.

“Through this partnership we are setting the stage for the future generation of those looking to change the world and we’re very excited to see what is created.
