Havas Studios appoints its first global chief operating officer

Havas Studios, the agency’s global production network, has appointed James Sanderson as its first global chief operating officer.

Sanderson joins the “big six” agency from marketing consultancy firm ICP, where he held the role of global creative operations practice lead.

Prior to joining ICP, he helped establish and lead Wunderman Thompson Inside, a WPP agency sector. He also worked for the agency Oliver where he was chief operating officer for two years.

In his new role as global chief operating officer, Sanderson is set to improve Havas’ network of production studios and is tasked with ensuring technology is used to develop effectiveness when moving between production outposts in London, New York and Paris.

Working alongside Havas Studios global chief executive Paul Ward, Sanderson will also implement Havas Studios’ plans to invest in technologies that are “location agnostic” to ensure the company operates efficiently all the time around the world.

“Havas Studios was built from the ground up, without the legacy of outdated technology or ways of working,” Sanderson said.

“There’s a real opportunity to build the most modern, efficient and creatively driven global production agency on the market. Global demand for content at scale continues to grow unabated, and my role is to ensure Havas Studios continues to do likewise.”

Ward added: “I met James six years ago. As we started to hone the Havas Studios business plan, I naturally found myself drawing a James-shaped role into the business – he brings exactly what we need to get us to the next level.”
