Wavemaker retains DWP media planning rights with four-year deal

London-based media agency Wavemaker has secured media planning rights for the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), following a competitive pitch process.

The WPP subsidiary has been awarded a four-year contract by the DWP, with which it has now worked for seven years.

Last year, Wavemaker was announced as one of the agencies which had secured a place on the government’s four-year roster, Campaign Solutions 2 framework to handle media planning and strategy.

The DWP’s tender was open to all its rostered agencies, including Havas, MG OMD and MediaCom.

The brief sees Wavemaker continuing to lead the annual planning for the DWP’s ‘JobHelp’ campaign, launched last year.

The ‘JobHelp’ scheme aims to support jobseekers who are looking for new opportunities or seeking a career change and offers training, advice and practical options on starting a new career in the wake of the Covid-10 pandemic.

Wavemaker will also help the DWP with media planning for its upcoming Universal Credit campaign, after its successful work on the ‘Benefit Information’ awareness campaign run during the pandemic.

“We’ve worked closely with the DWP for many years, and we’re delighted to be asked to continue supporting them, especially since the drive to get people into work is more important than ever before,” Wavemaker UK chief growth officer, Katie Lee said.

“In the wake of the pandemic, we have a great opportunity to make a positive impact.

She added: “We look forward to helping deliver on departmental objectives that will produce jobs, opportunities, and prosperity across the nation.”
