Marketing Liverpool secures vital VisitEngland investment to fund tourism push

Marketing Liverpool, the promotional arm of Liverpool City Council, has secured lucrative funding from VisitEngland’s central budget for the second year running.

This will enable the council to continue to build upon its “Escape the Everyday” marketing campaign, launched in 2021.

The new promotional push will be spearheaded by the “Get away to it all” slogan, focusing on Liverpool’s offering of indoor and outdoor activities, attractions, bars and restaurants with the aim of differentiating the city from other UK destinations, in the hopes of attracting greater numbers of both domestic and international tourists.

Marketing Liverpool will also aim to encourage tourists to break the mould and enjoy less traditional city breaks by focusing on more adventure-themed activities such as a day at the beach or a cycling tour.

The agency will hope to increase traffic to the VisitLiverpool website, by advising visitors to book tickets for events and experiences online prior to their arrival. Itineraries and a “suite of marketing content” are set to be added to the website.

“We are delighted that we have been successful with our application for funding and for the support of VisitEngland,” Marketing Liverpool director, Chris Brown said

“These resources will help us accelerate our recovery and enable us to boost demand for the city and our wider city region at a time when businesses within the visitor economy need support.”

VisitEngland director, Andrew Stokes said: “VisitEngland is very pleased to be delivering this fund to support destinations locally as they align their activities to our national ‘Escape the Everyday’ campaign, encouraging more people to discover the fantastic array of tourism products on their doorstep and further afield.

“With the slower return of international tourists, now is the time to visit our wonderful cities and remind ourselves why they are such a draw.

“The funding will also support local businesses who have been working so hard to welcome visitors back and provide a stand-out experience.”
