Hermes: Troubled delivery firm rebrands as Evri

Delivery firm Hermes has rebranded as Evri, following a series of controversies negatively impacted its brand image over the last two years.

The rebrand will be rolled out across all depots, ParcelShops and vehicles, and will be backed by a new ad campaign set to debut on ITV on 18 March.

The firm has also announced a £7 million annual investment in employee’s pensions, in what is being called “a first in the UK logistics industry”.

“This rebrand follows significant investment and two years of dramatic growth which has resulted in our entire business going through a major transformation programme,” Hermes CEO Martijn de Lange said.

“It is more than just a name change – it is a statement of intent of our commitment to leading the way in creating responsible delivery experiences for ‘Evri one’, ‘Evri where’.

“It heralds a new culture and an even better way of doing things in an ever-evolving world, building on our achievements and successes.”

The news comes after intense scrutiny of the business’ practices during the first wave of the Covid pandemic, when the firm announced it would only remunerate self-isolating workers up to £20 a day, capped at £280 a fortnight.

In another blow, a damning Citizen’s Advice report released in November found Hermes to be the worst-performing of the top 5 delivery firms in the UK, with an overall score of 1.5 out of 5.

The rebrand has faced criticism by social media users, joking that about the new name.

One social media user said: “Evri parcel goes missing? Because Evri day they’re reputation somehow manages to get worse? Because Evri time I see they’re delivering my parcel, my heart sinks?”

Another added: “Hermes changing their name to Evri… Because there’s Evri chance you will never see your package.”

“Hermes’ rebranding to Evri is everything you would expect from Hermes”, another user said.
