KFC to launch grant offering TikTok creators £500k

KFC has unveiled ‘a first-of-its-kind’ grant, #KentuckyFriedGivingChallenge, offering TikTok creators cash grants worth over half a million pounds.

Teaming up with the social media platform, KFC aims to offer the cash injection to reward non-profit TikTok creators across the U.S, who display acts of fighting hunger in communities across the U.S.

To be in with a chance to receive the funds, creators must submit a 30 second video demonstration of how their organisation has helped the local community. KFC will award $40,000 to 11 non-profit finalists.

In early April, TikTok users will also have the opportunity to cast their votes for their favourite video from the 11 finalists, with the grand-prize winning non-profit organisation being gifted an additional $60,000.

According to fast-food chain, it was “inspired by TikTok’s Creator Fund and philanthropic creators like Isaiah Garza, best known for spreading positivity and changing lives through random acts of kindness on TikTok.”

“As a creator with a cause, I know what it is like to be homeless and hungry. I am excited to partner with KFC for the #KentuckyFriedChickenGivingChallenge on a mission to inspire other TikTok creators to do amazing work in helping fight hunger and homelessness within their own communities,” TikTok user Isaiah Garza said.

KFC US chief marketing officer Nick Chavez added: “TikTok has become an influential platform for creators with a passion for philanthropy. That passion is precisely what inspired us to create the #KentuckyFriedGivingChallenge, the first-ever grant program on TikTok benefiting nonprofits.

“We are excited to give creators with a cause an opportunity to shine a light on those working to end hunger in their communities.”
