Supermarket chain Tesco has selected social-first creative agency Uncovered as its lead social media agency at the conclusion of a competitive pitch process.
The three-way shootout, which included We Are Social and VaynerMedia, was overseen by consultancy Tuffon Hall. Uncovered will now form part of Tesco’s wider agency roster.
In its new role, the agency will produce ‘high-volume, social-first content’ in a bid to engage greater numbers of customers on a range of various platforms.
Murray Bisschop, UK marketing director at Tesco, said: “We’re focused on strengthening our social media approach and we are excited to be working with Uncovered to produce new work that we hope will be engaging and relevant for our customers.”

The move will not impact BBH London’s role as Tesco’s lead creative and strategy agency, a relationship stretching back a decade. It most recently produced a social-first campaign promoting the brand’s Meal Deal in September last year.
“Winning the Tesco social account is a defining achievement for our agency. We’ve long aspired to work with a supermarket brand, and to partner with the UK’s biggest is an incredible privilege,” Chris Cookson, chief executive and founder of Uncovered added.
“Their ambition and creativity stood out throughout the pitch process, and we’re thrilled to join forces to push the boundaries of social, create work that resonates, and drive real impact in the years ahead.”
