The History Channel has launched a new campaign to remember the Holocaust and the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the notorious Bergen-Belsen.
The broadcaster has partnered with Dentsu Creative Iberia to produce a short video and images made up of photos of identification numbers which were tattooed onto the arms of some prisoners in Nazi concentration camps.
Titled ‘History Outnumbered’, the campaign has been launched on TV, in print and OOH. It also marks the 25th anniversary of the channel itself.

A spokesperson for Dentsu Creative said in response to “the troubling resurgence of far-right extremism”, the campaign delivers a stark warning: “If we don’t learn from history, we are doomed to repeat it.”
“It’s a chilling juxtaposition that brings the past into sharp, unsettling focus.”
The tattooed numbers from the arms of Holocaust survivors are used to visualise alarming data, such as the 33,963 racial hate crimes in Germany in 2024, and the 1,856 Likes on the comment: “We miss you, Hitler”.
A special commemoration ceremony to remember the liberation of Bergen-Belsen Concentration Camp will be held on 27 April at Bergen-Belsen POW Cemetery. It will be streamed live on YouTube from 1.30pm.
