McCann London’s recently appointed chief creative officer, Lynsey Atkin (above) has left the agency after four months in post. She will be replaced by Emiliano González De Pietri.
Atkin’s departure follows shortly on from CEO Polly McMorrow’s resignation in December, with new business head and chief operating officer Jemima Monies also leaving at the back end of last year.
These three senior departures come at a time of heightened uncertainty for the agency ahead of the Omnicom and IPG merger, which is due to be completed at some point this year. The move will see Omnicom assume control of IPG’s flagships – which include McCann.
On her departure, Atkin told Campaign: “It’s been a short stint, but sometimes plans change. It’s still been sweet, thanks to a great group of welcoming and talented people at McCann London, who I wish all the best for the future. I remain thoroughly optimistic about this industry and look forward to my next creative endeavour.”

Atkin joined McCann after a much-celebrated five-year stint at Channel 4’s in-house agency 4Creative, which saw her scoop up numerous awards and widespread industry praise.
McCann Worldgroup UK and Europe president, Christian Johansen added: “We would like to thank Lynsey for the time she has spent with us at McCann London. We understand that sometimes plans do not align and appreciate her professionalism during our time together. We wish her all the best in her next venture.”

González De Pietri (left) joins from his Madrid-based role as a global creative partner of global brands at McCann Worldgroup, having first joined the company in 2021 from Grey.
“I’ve been an admirer of British creativity since I watched the Cannes specials Canal+ ran in Spain 30 years ago. To be in London, leading an office with these teams and clients, is a dream come true,” González De Pietri said.
“The weeks I spent here during the Peroni pitch were pivotal. The teams and I clicked, and I fell in love with this office. I can’t wait to see what we can achieve together.”
