Swedish furniture and homeware chain Ikea has partnered with dating app, Breeze, to give those seeking love the chance to participate in an in-store dating experience based on their sleeping habits.

Breeze will select nine couples from London, Manchester and Edinburgh who were matched between 5 February and 10 February to have their first date in an Ikea store.

Selected couples will share a meatball dinner for two at an Ikea store on Valentine’s Day.

The couples will be selected based on their sleep compatibility, looking at preferences such as mattress firmness, temperature and duvet thickness.

Tania Douglas, Ikea commercial activity leader, said: “At Ikea, we believe everyone deserves a good night’s sleep, so we’re excited to team up with Breeze to help those looking for love to find someone they can sleep soundly with. We’ve used our Six Sleep Essentials to help lucky singles find their sleep soulmate.”

The collaboration comes as research, conducted by Censuswide, highlighted that 8.4 million people in the UK split with a partner over incompatible sleeping habits.

However, 55% of respondents who are in a relationship reported they had different sleeping habits to their partner, with 29% admitting they received a better night’s sleep when their partner isn’t in bed with them.

Breeze co-founder, Marsha Goei said: “Breeze is dedicated to helping people find meaningful connections in real life. We’re excited to partner with Ikea to create a truly special dating experience that celebrates the magic of finding someone who is genuinely compatible.”
