As part of its ‘Big Jan Price Drop’ campaign, supermarket Asda will cut the price of thousands of products this month.

The grocer will drop the prices of 2500 household staples including Cathedral City mature cheddar, Asda chicken breasts, Dolmio Bolognese sauce, and Persil Wonder Wash, by an average of 26%.

The initiative comes as data from Asda’s income tracker revealed that despite increased spending power, rising inflation is still expected to pose challenges for families in 2025.

Some of the price drops include Nescafe Classic Original 200g being reduced to £3.50 from £4.85, Old El Paso Fajita Kit dropping from £3.80 to £2.50, Asda salmon fillets from £4.50 to £3.00 and Asda turkey mince from £3.00 to £2.50.

Asda chief customer officer David Hills said: “We know that as we come out of the festive period, budgets can be a concern for many families. Our Big Jan Price Drop aims to ease that burden and make money stretch further for our customers, by reducing the prices of the products they’re buying week in, week out, continuing to offer uncompromising value to all.”

The supermarket will also continue to offer its café ‘winter warmer’ £1 meal deal through January and February for those over 60. The deal includes a soup, a roll, and unlimited tea and coffee.
