The BBC has released three Wallace & Gromit-themed idents to play on BBC One ahead of their return to the small screen in a ‘Vengeance Most Fowl’ on Christmas day.
The idents were created by the four-time Academy award-winning animation studio Aardman and will be shown throughout December.
The broadcaster’s idents, directed by Jay Grace, feature childhood favourites Wallace & Gromit and a new character from the film, Wallace’s latest invention, the ‘smart gnome’ Norbot.

Aardman managing director, Sean Clarke commented: “You truly know Christmas has arrived when the BBC reveal their iconic idents, so it was an honour and privilege to be asked if we could this year mark the return of Wallace & Gromit with some unique and entertaining idents that I’m confident will bring a smile to everyone’s face throughout the festive season.”
Each of the idents highlights a different festive scene: one shows the pair with their ‘smart gnome’ watching TV, while another shows them lighting up a Christmas tree and a third shows the three of them making ice sculptures.
BBC chief content officer, Charlotte Moore added: “We’re so excited to have Wallace & Gromit back on the BBC this Christmas Day, and what better way to mark their return than by taking over the airwaves with three joyous festive idents created especially by the masterful team at Aardman.
“Now famous around the world, Wallace & Gromit are a true homegrown success story and at the BBC we’re incredibly proud to continue our longstanding relationship and premiere their new adventure, Vengeance Most Fowl.”
Vengeance Most Fowl will premiere on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on Christmas Day and will be available outside the UK globally on Netflix from 3 January 2025. It stars Ben Whitehead, Peter Kay, Lauren Patel, and Reece Shearsmith.
