The Walt Disney Company has released a touching short film to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the song ‘It’s a Small World’.
The three-minute 30-second film “The Last Verse” was devised by creative agency adam&eveDDB and features an extra verse of the song composed by the late Richard Sherman.
It will premiere on ABC News Studios as part of a two-hour documentary ‘The Untold Story of Mary Poppins: A Special Edition of 20/20’.
The mass media and entertainment giant said the film “serves as a heartfelt tribute to the late Richard Sherman, who passed away in May 2024”.

“As the legendary creators of some of the most cherished music of the past century, the Sherman brothers will be remembered for their profound impact on our global culture,” said The Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Iger.
“Hearing Richard Sherman recite the final verse to ‘It’s a Small World’ before he died will be a moment I will carry with me forever. This beautiful short film is our tribute to their immeasurable musical contributions, their memory, and to the countless memories they helped create for generations of people around the world.”
The film, directed by Emmy-nominated director Henry Alex Rubin, showcases the song’s impact on global pop culture and features rarely seen footage, photos, and stories.
It will be available to stream on Disney+, YouTube, and social media platforms from today (28 November).
