Westfield London’s annual Christmas ice rink gets a Disney makeover

Westfield’s dedicated agency, Westfield Rise has announced that the official sponsor of the Westfield London ice rink will be Walt Disney Animation Studio’s blockbuster film, Moana 2.

As part of the sponsorship, the animation studio’s Moana branding will be showcased throughout the shopping centre and ice rink with in-centre digital screens, static placements, and experiential space.

According to the agency, the sponsorship showcases the ways in which “entertainment brands and shopping destinations can leverage physical spaces to create consumer experiences that leave a lasting impression.”

There will also be branding on the rink barriers and skate change area, as well as on the rink’s Christmas tree, which Westfield claims is the tallest in Europe.

The rink will equally play host to a series of Moana-themed events throughout the festive season.

Head of Westfield Rise, Mel Lalou, said: “This collaboration with Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Moana 2 allows us to blend the magic of the film with the festive tradition of ice skating, creating a captivating brand experience that resonates with visitors of all ages.

“The Moana-themed ice rink truly sets us apart, bringing the spirit of exploration and adventure to life both on and off the ice. This distinctive attraction seamlessly integrates retail, leisure, and entertainment in a way that only Westfield London can offer.”

The rink will be open from 15 November 2024 to 5 January 2025.
