Men’s health charity Movember has joined forces with run coaching app Coopah to mark its Move for Movember campaign with an impactful six-minute film.
The film which shows ten runners whose lives have been affected by suicide, cancer or mental health, told to go out for a run and expect a call from a stranger. It shows each individual opening up about their story and how running has helped them navigate life in the wake of their loss or struggle.
Directed by Bright Steam Production’s Nic Minns and Matthew Bowen, the film features fundraiser Katy and Imogen who both lost their fathers to suicide and met for the first time during filming.
Katy said: “Every time I lace up my trainers, I think of my dad. We used to run together all the time, and even now, I still feel him with me on every run. It’s one of the ways I stay connected to him. Talking about men’s mental health is crucial—we need to empower men to seek help, because when they suffer, we all suffer. That’s why I support Movember and wanted to be part of this film.”

The Move for Movember challenge encourages people to sign up to run or walk 60km in one go or over the course of a month. The challenge is designed to mark the fact that globally 60 men are lost to suicide every hour.
Movember spokesperson Holly Llewelyn-Davies said: “As part of this year’s Move for Movember campaign, Coopah wanted to create a film featuring real-life supporters whose lives have been affected by issues relating to men’s health. Some have lost loved ones to suicide, others are supporting family members going through cancer, or are tackling their own daily struggles with anxiety.”
