Santander sheds light on its free online learning platform Santander Open Academy to help people unlock their potential in its latest spot starring iconic TV duo Ant and Dec.

In the ad, the pair who play the fictional Bank of Antanddec CEOs, lock themselves in a safe as they attempt to guard their potential when they hear about Santander’s new initiative, but find themselves short of the key.

Created by House 337, produced by Mitre Studios and created in partnership with IPG studios, the 30-second spot is accompanied by a 20-second cutdown and selection of 15-second social media assets.

The national campaign will run across video-on-demand, CTV, display, social media, email communications and in branch.

The bank’s Open Academy delivers bite-sized video-led content to help bridge professional training gaps, as on-the-job training happens up to 20% less than it did a decade ago.

It comes as Santander has urged the government to address the skills gap in its new National Plan for Skills, and has released a new report ‘Tomorrow’s Skills’.

“Ant and Dec’s unfailing genius at grasping the wrong end of the stick makes them ideal candidates to promote Santander’s online learning platform, Open Academy,” said House 337 executive creative director Leon Jaume.

“It exists to help everyone unlock their potential. Everyone except Ant and Dec who manage to get their potential and themselves very thoroughly locked in.”

Santander UK marketing director Dan Sherwood added: “We’re proud of our nearly three-decade-long commitment to education, skills and employability to help people unlock their potential.”

“That’s why we’ve recently invested significantly in Santander Open Academy. Our online learning platform allows people across the UK access to on-demand training and skills, led by experts in their field. The best part – this platform is open to everyone for free, not just Santander employees or customers”
