Aldi is giving Kevin the Carrot a French twist as Kévin La Carotte races against Thyme in a new spot to celebrate Aldi UK’s role as Team GB’s Olympics sponsor.
The retailer extended its sponsorship for another eight years earlier this year.
Created by McCann Manchester and set to the iconic sound of ‘Chariots of Fire’, the film shows Kévin La Carotte carrying a match and aiming to save the day so that the games can begin.
It begins with the very Parisian sound of the accordion before Kévin La Carotte sees the devastating news that the torch is missing, and the games can’t begin until he beats Thyme to the stadium.

On the journey, the iconic mascot flies through the air and performs daredevil tricks before parachuting into France’s national stadium Stade de France which will host the Olympics. He’s then lifted high into the air like an Olympic torch just in time to kick off the sporting festival.
The spot ends with the supermarket wishing Team GB athletes good luck.
Kevin the Carrot’s morph into Kévin La Carotte isn’t the first time the supermarket has taken a playful tone with its instore characters. There was Colin vs Cuthbert and earlier this year the supermarket parodied Vogue with a magazine cover featuring iconic Aldi products.
