“A big part of dating is eating together. Whether you’re at a restaurant or rustling up a romantic meal at home, how you come across can be the difference between giving your date the ‘ick’ or allowing an opportunity for sparks to fly,” said Lucas.

“Sharing a meal can be just as daunting as it is romantic, so I’m here to help.”

Mars Food and Nutrition manager spokesperson Giulia Somma said: “With more people having dinner duties at home, we want to encourage singles to always enjoy the dishes they love, even when trying to impress.”

“Whilst spag bol is the nation’s most home-cooked dish, it’s also been voted as one of the messiest date foods – so hopefully daters can now cook, serve and eat with confidence.”
