Apple partners with David Hockney for Battersea Power Station extravaganza

Global tech giant Apple has partnered with renowned British artist David Hockney to create a specially-designed Christmas light display on the facade of its London HQ.

Set to be in place up until Christmas Day, the work was designed by Hockney using an iPad Pro and an Apple Pencil and is displayed on the Apple HQ at Battersea Power Station.

“Bigger Christmas trees” is centred around a ten-minute animation that can be seen daily from 5 to 10.30pm, made up of a pair of Christmas trees that illuminate the power station’s iconic washtowers.

“It is a privilege for us that Hockney chooses iPad for his work, and to create this beautiful Christmas gift for the people of London,” Apple senior VP of worlwide marketing, Greg Joswiak said.

According to the US firm, Hockney has used its products for last 15 years, beginning with the iPhone in 2007 and continuing with the iPad’s release in 2010.

The project follows on from a pair of touching festive ads released by Apple over the last few weeks, in which genuinely human, emotional stories are prioritised over the product.
