Bristol-based energy firm OVO has today (11 April) announced that it has enlisted Saatchi & Saatchi to deliver creative work to enable it to better engage with customers in its net zero journey.

The creative agency will immediately begin developing new creative work to be launched this summer, in order to help OVO deliver on its ‘Plan Zero, strategy to achieve net zero carbon by 2035, and to support customers to decarbonise their homes.

Saatchi & Saatchi secured the business at the conclusion of a competitive pitch process handled by Ingenuity which involved three other agencies.

“We’re proud to get the OVO brand out into the world and we needed a partner to match our passion for our mission and game-changing products and services. Saatchi & Saatchi brought that in spades, showing a real desire to get under the skin of our business, plus determination to bring cultural relevance and insight from the world of our customers and the nation at large,” OVO Energy director of marketing and brand, Alice Tendler said.

“OVO has always been at the forefront of defining what green energy looks like and we now have the scale to drive meaningful change by bringing 4 million customers with us on the journey to decarbonisation. We can’t wait to kick-start that through powerful communications with such a strong, collaborative agency partner by our side.”

Working with Goodstuff on its UK media planning and buying, OVO currently serves around 4 million customers.

Saatchi & Saatchi chief creative officer, Franki Goodwin added: “This pitch was such a positive process to be a part of because it felt genuinely collaborative from the off. I’m so excited to be working with a truly modern energy company with a brilliant purpose and team at the heart of the business. As Britain builds a new chapter, we need a better energy system for everyone and we can’t wait to get going.”
