Whittard unveils first-ever TV ad in run-up to Mother’s Day

Coffee and tea retailer Whittard of Chelsea has unveiled its first-ever TV commercial ahead of Mother’s Day, developed in collaboration with Team ITG.

Launching to Sky customers via AdSmart the campaign will be centred around the strapline ‘a gift as unique as them’ and will be supported by a range of assets including localised executions to be featured in cities where the retailer has a prominent presence such as Manchester, Oxford, and Glasgow. The flagship ad will aim to drive increased footfall in the run-up to Mother’s Day, a key gifting period for boutique retailers.

“We are proud to support Whittard in the creation of their first-ever TV commercial, ideated and produced through our one-team approach as we delivered bespoke assets for this emotive, heart-warming and integrated campaign,” Team ITG creative officer, James Chittenden said.

“Our world-class team proposed a range of concepts for the advert before executing an array of feature-rich content for multichannel application. Combining our two engines of agency services and technology enabled us to create an agile campaign in a matter of weeks, with this advert representing a landmark moment for a heritage British brand.”

A suite of lifestyle and product photography was also produced by Team ITG to be used as partof  in-store point-of-sale, e-commerce and social media activations for the campaign, as well as upcoming Whittard projects both at home and abroad.

Whittard of Chelsea CEO, Nathan Smith added: “We are excited to launch our first TV campaign and it is a fantastic opportunity for us to share the Whittard brand with both new and existing audiences. We’ve chosen to run the TV ad in the build-up to Mother’s Day as our unique products make for the perfect gifts. We look forward to sharing a bit about us and hope the advertisement helps spark awareness and curiosity amongst our target audience.”

Filmed within Team ITG’s state-of-the-art advertising studio, Whittard is the latest brand to make use of the Birmingham-based firm’s 30,000 sq ft facility.
