Ohne breaks down women’s health taboos with new OOH campaign

Ohne, the period care, sexual well-being and women’s health start-up, has unveiled a nationwide out-of-home (OOH) campaign in a bid to break down taboos.

Running across 325 Clear Channel digital screens and potentially reaching 2.6 million people, the new campaign aims to challenge the ‘gender health gap’ and tackle misconceptions around tabooed women’s health issues during the month of January.

Developed in-house, the overarching creative is based on UK ‘Google Keyword Research’ taken from January to November 2022, highlighting the millions of searches for period, gynaecological and sexual health and the lack of helpful information, support, and products available for common women’s health issues.

Ohne wishes to encourage an honest conversation about the ‘gender health gap’ and highlight the lack of education and information available to women about their own bodies. A recent UK Government study of 100,000 women found that 84% of respondents have had instances in which they feel they had not been properly listened to by healthcare professionals.

“There are literally billions of searches from women questioning their bodies – in fact, over 70% of Google search queries that start with the words ‘is it normal’ pertain to the female experience,” Ohne CEO and co-founder Leah Remfry-Peploe said.

“As a team of ten women, we wanted to highlight that the mainstream support, products and education available to us is quite simply not good enough. We want women to know that their not alone in their searches, and instead of sending them down a rabbit hole, welcome them into our community.”

The Clear Channel space was secured as part of a partnership that included the donation of £2,500 worth of ohne products to Clear Channel charity partner, Sistah Space in exchange for the media space.

Clear Channel UK senior planner and co-captain of the Women’s and Gender Equality Crew (ERG), Edie Fisher, added: “At Clear Channel, we have been trying to shine a greater light on women’s health issues both internally and externally so supporting this campaign has been a no brainer. We’re also thrilled that through our continued partnership with ohne, we can materially support vulnerable women by donating period products to the Sistah Space charity.”
