Matalan has launched its 2022 Christmas ad campaign taking viewers on a Narnia-style journey through its fashion, gifting and home-ware collections.
The 30-second commercial places an emphasis on the brand’s breadth of offering, value and style credentials, responding to Matalan’s key customer insight that its customers love to prepare for Christmas.
In the ad, the ‘Matalan hero’ steps through her magical Christmas cupboard and finds herself in a fantastical festive future filled with yuletide magic and the perfect Christmas setup.

“This year as the country feels the economic strain, we know many people will be extremely price conscious and will be managing their Christmas budgets wisely,” Matalan omnichannel marketing director, Jeff Howarth, said.
“Matalan is famous for great value and choice and plays a particularly important role for UK households at Christmas and we wanted to capture the excitement of this special seasonal time – which we believe this year’s campaign does perfectly.”
Created by McCann Manchester, the value retailer’s festive spot will run across social, TV and VOD platforms with aims of unlocking ‘the magic of Christmas’.
