The Institute of Practioners in Advertising (IPA) has reacted to the news that Rishi Sunak is set to become the new prime minister.

IPA director general Paul Bainsfair has openly welcomed the appointment of Rishi Sunak as the next prime minister hoping that he will “end the political turmoil” and “provide the financial acumen, clarity, certainty and confidence that we are seeking from government”.

“On top of that we are of course still keen to engage with government further on the significant issues affecting our industry, including HFSS regulation, the Online Advertising Programme, the privatisation plans for Channel 4 and more,” the IPA director general added.

“We welcome the appointment of Rishi Sunak as our next prime minister. We hope that this will bring to an end the political turmoil that has caused so much damage to the country and that he will be able to provide the financial acumen, clarity, certainty and confidence that we are seeking from government.
