Australian firm Accolade Wines had been named as the official wine supplier to this year’s Commonwealth Games, taking place in Birmingham from 28 July to 8 August.
The Adelaide-based group boasts an extensive portfolio of brands containing numerous flagship Australian wines such as Jam Shed, Hardys and Mud House which will be exclusively on offer across all bars at the family lounges at the tournament.
As part of the partnership, a pop-up branded wine bar will be built at the NEC Campus, serving Banrock and Jam Shed.
This year’s event will be aiming to be the first with a carbon neutral legacy, in the hopes of setting a benchmark for future games by promoting a sustainable behavioural change.
Accolade Wine’s environmental commitments match up with the Commonwealth Games’ vision – in 2020 the firm became the first major producer to become fully carbon neutral, throughout all stages of the production and delivery process.

“We have a huge summer of sport ahead, and this new partnership feels like the perfect fit for us with their sustainability ambitions aligning with our own long-term commitment to the environment and reducing our impact on the planet.”
Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games head of catering, Sue Creed added: “One of our main ambitions for the Games this year is to create a Carbon Neutral Legacy that will inspire other events to take action to reduce their own impact.
“Accolade Wines’ is well-placed to support this goal, with its core European branded portfolio already certified carbon neutral by the Carbon Trust. We’re really pleased to have them onboard.”
