Fast fashion retailer Shein has partnered with Swedish fintech firm Klarna to open a pop-up in London’s Covent Garden, giving the shoppers the chance to browse Shein’s new spring collection.

The ‘#SheinxKlarna experience’ will take place from Friday, 8 April to Sunday, 10 April at The Stables, 25 Shelton Street, offering customers a wide range of events related to fashion, styling, beauty and wellness.

Hello Fashion magazine will also have a presence at the event, with deputy beauty editor Ellie Sixsmith and editor Jill Wanless giving talks and discussing future beauty trends.

There will also be a complimentary manicure station, flower stall, food cart and barista on hand to enhance the customer’s experience.

The move follows the extraordinary expansion of the online retailer from relative obscurity to becoming one of the sector’s market leaders.

However, the brand has been mired in controversy over the last two years, being sued by Levi Strauss and Doc Marten after being accused of stealing their work.

An investigation by Swiss NGO Public Eye found that much of Shein’s Chinese factory staff worked 75 hours a week, with only one day off per month.

Public Eye also found that many migrants workers were given only nominal contracts and were instead paid per item of clothing produced.

A Shein spokesperson said at the time: “Upon learning of the report, we immediately requested a copy and when we receive and review the report, we will initiate an investigation.

“We have a strict supplier Code of Conduct which includes stringent health and safety policies and is in compliance with local laws. If non-compliance is identified, we will take immediate action.”
