Virgin Bet has partnered with podcast production company Sport Social Podcast Network to take a stand against skyrocketing Premier League season ticket prices in its latest campaign.

The telecom firm will award eight dedicated sports fans a £1000 cash prize that can be put towards the cost of their season ticket, which have risen sharply in recent years.

‘A Grand Isn’t Grand’ will form part of Virgin Bet’s wider brand platform ‘A Good Bet’, which aims to make Premier League football more accessible to the fans.

Submissions for the competition will be accepted until 22 December and fans can enter by sharing a story about why they or someone they know deserves to win the money. Winners will be notified during the week commencing 27 January.

Virgin Bet said that the prize is “not just about helping to cover costs; it is about recognising the heart and soul of football: the passionate fans who make the game what it is”.

This campaign comes after many Premier League clubs raised their season ticket prices to over £1000 this year.

Virgin Bet marketing director, Dominic Vye said: “At Virgin Bet, we believe that ‘A Grand Isn’t Grand’ when it comes to the cost of being a football fan.

“We are committed to making sport accessible for all, and with rising season ticket prices, this campaign is our way of supporting fans who help make the sport so special.

He continued: “This campaign is beyond just a refund; this is about celebrating the role fans play in the game and supporting their continued access to the sport they love.”
