Multinational coffeehouse chain Costa Coffee has named US marketing agency Wunderman Thompson as its new global agency of record for brand strategy.
Through its UK arm, Wunderman Thompson will also handle Costa Coffee’s integrated creative output, having launched its inaugural campaign launching earlier this month.
‘Fridays are a big deal’ offers Costa Club rewards scheme members the opportunity to purchase up to ten items at 25% off and get a free hot or iced drink with the purchase of any other beverage.
With a new deal launching every Friday, the campaign is set to run across radio for eight weeks, followed by an out-of-home push next month.

Wunderman Thompson UK created eight different audio spots for the promotion, centred around ‘hyper-naturalistic’ between Costa Coffee customers.
“Fridays are a big deal at Costa Coffee and we wanted to help people start the weekend with a boost with a series of different weekly offers,” Costa Coffee marketing director UK&I, Kirstey Elston said.
“These relatable ads remind Costa Club members to treat themselves, so we’ll see you on a Friday!”
Wunderman Thompson executive creative director, Tom Drew added: “These ads celebrate the small human moments that people can relate to, with the kind of conversation you’d have while waiting in line for your favourite Flat White.
“The bonus this time around is that there’s a great offer waiting at the end of the ad, giving the perfect excuse for a Friday treat.”
