WPP-owned Wunderman Thompson has appointed Tom Murphy as chief creative officer of its North American operations.

Murphy joins Wunderman Thompson after an extensive 16-year spell at McCann’s New York offices, where he held a succession of creative leadership roles – culminating in chief creative officer. Murphy previously held senior roles at DDB Chicago and a pre-merger J. Walter Thompson.

During his time at McCann, Murphy worked with a range of major US brands including; Verizon, Mastercard, Microsoft, Ulta Beauty, Lysol, Mucinex, MGM Resorts, NY Lottery, USPS, and HomeGoods.

Murphy will be reporting in to CEO Audrey Melofchik, who commented: “Growth challenges facing clients today require an agency partner steeped in expertise across their entire ecosystem with creative firepower to ignite it in completely new ways.
