Cleaning product manufacturer Ecover has teamed up with The Tetris Company on a new free-to-play online game.

Tetris: Fully Loaded aims to help people pack their dishwashers more efficiently and sustainably.

The campaign coincides with the cleaning and laundry brand’s launch of its industry-first plastic-free dishwasher tablets.

The game pits the meticulous Architect against the chaos-loving Raccoon and lets players test their stacking skills and household tactics in a virtual dishwasher grid, complete with leaderboards.

“Tetris has always been about finding the perfect fit, whether that’s lining up falling blocks or, in this case, dishes in the dishwasher,” said Maya Rogers, president and CEO of The Tetris Company.

”Partnering with Ecover allows us to take that same sense of challenge and fun and apply it to a real-life puzzle in homes across the UK. It’s nostalgia with a modern purpose: play, stack, and save resources while keeping the peace at home.”

Actor Larry Lamb stars in the campaign alongside his son George.

He said the retro-inspired game “isn’t just nostalgic”.

”It’s also about bringing families together, sparking a bit of friendly competition, and showing how small actions, like stacking the dishwasher properly, can save water and energy.”

The campaign comes after a nationwide study commissioned by Ecover found 61% of UK adults have disagreed or argued over dishwasher loading, with 1 in 10 so frustrated that they questioned even wanting to live with the person.

The research also found that four-fifths of UK households turn their dishwasher on before it is full, and 63% don’t realise that wasted space equals wasted water and energy.
