Retailer Marks & Spencer Food has appointed Andrew Hicks (above) as its new marketing director. Bringing over two decades’-worth of experience to the role, he will begin on 1 September.
Set to report to managing director Alex Freudmann, Hicks’ appointment follows on from Sharry Cramond’s move to lead Marks & Spencer Fashion and Home & Beauty’s marketing output.
He joins the historic UK firm after a 13-year spell with Australian supermarket chain Woolworths, where he held the role of chief marketing officer since 2019.

According to Marks & Spencer Food: “[Hicks’] experience and insight complements the Food Leadership Team’s high-performance culture and will further drive M&S to deliver against its ambition to be a shopping list retailer, while maintaining quality and value perceptions and remaining number one for trust.”
As part of the shake-up, Kevin Bennett will take up his previously announced role as Marks & Spencer Food Logistics Director – Gist CEO on 7th July.
