Festivalgoers who took the 12.35pm train to Glastonbury from Paddington on Friday (27 June) were surprised by a performance from musician Sam Ryder.
Ryder’s secret set was part of the ‘I came by train’ campaign supported by Trainline, which aims to encourage the general public to choose travelling by public transport over car to cut emissions.
He took over the train by becoming the conductor for the duration of the ride, making “cheeky” announcements and playing his hit tunes.

Sam Ryder said: “The energy on that train was unreal. ‘I came by train’ is all about doing something good for the planet, and having a great time doing it.”
The gig follows the unveiling of the Train Ryder train on Monday at London Paddington.
The collaboration was organised by creative agency Traunt.
