Scotland-based brand Monkey Shoulder Whisky has unveiled a vinyl record experience ahead of this year’s World Music Day (21 June).

Titled ‘Monkey Shoulder Records’, the new offering is “crate-digging playground” featuring DJ’s, audio technology and premium cocktails. It will be hosted at the KEF Music Gallery in London on 17 June.

Grime artist DJ Target, dubstep singer Katy B and DJ Arthi have curated a vinyl collection for KEF’s listening rooms.

DJ Target said: “Concepts and spaces like Monkey Shoulder Records showcase the pleasure of listening to vinyl, and I’m here for it! Through DJ’ing, I have a vinyl background, and you really can’t beat finding your perfect record, taking it out of the sleeve, and placing it on your turntable. Just hearing that little crackle at the start of the track gives me goosebumps.”

Additionally, seven vinyl stores from across the UK have curated their own crate featuring genres such as hip hop and grime.

The stores are Honest Jon’s (London), Eastern Bloc (Manchester), Klang Tone (Stroud), Strip Joint (Glasgow), Digger’s Club (Cardiff), Sister Ray (London) and Swordfish Records (Birmingham).

The whisky brand has created a selection of cocktails to pair with the record selection.

Katy B said: “Searching through and selecting my top ten Monkey Shoulder Records inspired me to write a new song ahead of my upcoming album. In my vinyl crate, I’ve chosen songs that are meant for the club (my happy place) but also ones that have a rich, sonic experience.”

Giles Peterson Worldwide FM will also be taking part in the experience, expanding on its current partnership of the brand; Studio Monkey Shoulder.

Stephen Reynolds, head of marketing at Monkey Shoulder said: “The resurgence of listening bars and record store culture has inspired us to create Monkey Shoulder Records. Having DJ Target, Katy B and Arthi, alongside a host of record stores sharing centuries of music knowledge, whilst enjoying delicious cocktails in KEF’s ultimate listening experience – it’s a must-visit for music fans this summer.”
