Insurance brokers Howden, the principal partner and official jersey sponsor of the British & Irish Lions, today (9 May) marked the announcement of the squad with the unveiling of a 44-foot hand-painted mural in East London.
The artwork features the names of each player selected by head coach Andy Farrell, as revealed live by Lions chairman Ieuan Evans at The O2.
The mural unveiling was attended by Lions legends Brian O’Driscoll, Gavin Hastings, and Jamie Roberts, together with Howden group founder and CEO David Howden.

“What makes being a Lion so special is how quickly rivalry turns into family,” said O’Driscoll.
“You spend years trying to beat each other, but once you pull on that red jersey, every supporter from England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland is right there with you. It is a feeling of pride and belonging that stays with you forever.”
Roberts agreed: “Hearing your name announced for the Lions is a moment you never forget. I remember sitting in my old car, listening on the radio, feeling this unbelievable mix of shock, pride and excitement. Seeing the names appear here today brings all those emotions flooding back and shows just how special this achievement is for every single player.”
Brigitte Trafford, Howden group chief corporate affairs officer, said: “Having the Howden name on the Lions’ jersey is a hugely significant and proud moment for us.”
“This sponsorship is a really exciting part of our brand portfolio and a key part of Howden’s journey towards being recognised as one of the world’s leading global insurance brokers.”
The activation was set up and managed by Howden and its roster of agencies: MSQ Sport & Entertainment as creative partnership agency, TTB Sports partnership activation agency, and Goodstuff as media agency.
The artwork was delivered in collaboration with Global Street Art. It will remain in place until 18 May.
