British Gas has unveiled a new brand platform, starring its new mascots ‘The Things’.
According to the brand, ‘The Things’ are a fluffy symbol of “warmth, comfort and the peace of mind British Gas brings to homes across the UK”.
The platform, titled ‘Take care of things’, was devised by creative agency T&Pm.
As part of the brand platform, the company has launched a new campaign that centres on a 60-second hero spot.
“At British Gas, we understand the importance of a warm and working home,” said Andy Freeman, group brand and marketing officer at British Gas.
“Our new ‘Taking care of things’ platform, brought to life by ‘The Things,’ perfectly captures our commitment to providing reliable service and ensuring our customers can relax and enjoy their homes, knowing we’ve got them covered.”

Directed by Si&Ad of Academy Films, the spot follows the Thing family as they navigate moving houses with the aid of British Gas.
It features the tagline: “You make it a home; we keep it warm and working. British Gas – Taking care of things”.
The film will be supported by out-of-home campaigns, print and radio partnerships, cinema, ad-free broadcast video-on-demand experiences, digital activations and social media takeovers.
Media planning and buying were managed by OMD UK.
“We wanted to create a campaign that truly resonated with people on an emotional level. The Things represent the warmth, comfort and peace of mind British Gas provides,” said Matt Moreland and Chris Clarke, group creative directors at T&Pm.
“We’re hoping the British public will want to hug them just as much as we do, which is quite a lot by the way.”
