An ad for Endrick Clothing, filmed during the wedding of reality TV stars Vicky Pattison and Ercan Ramadan, has been banned for its positive portrayal of smoking.

The advert, which featured the groom and groomsmen smoking cigars, was shared on the couple’s Instagram accounts in October – with Pattison’s account boasting 5.5m followers. The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has upheld two complaints against the advert, deeming it “irresponsible”.

The ASA stated that the video “presented smoking in an appealing manner and suggested that it was part of a glamorous and aspirational lifestyle”. The adverts must not appear again in their current form.

Former Geordie Shore star, Pattison, and Ramadan tied the knot at London’s Marylebone Town Hall in August, followed by a second ceremony in Italy in September. The Italian celebration was filmed for E4 TV show, Vicky Pattison: My Big Fat Geordie Wedding.

The ASA also criticised Ramadan for failing to respond to their inquiries. The ASA has instructed Endrick Clothing Ltd and Ercan Ramadan to ensure future ads are socially responsible, particularly by not condoning or encouraging smoking.
