British comedy icon Johnny Vegas has partnered with Smart Energy GB to demystify the smart meter installation process in a new web comedy mini-series.
The project, which launched this month, aims to help households better understand smart meters through light-hearted and informative content.
In a three-part mockumentary-style series, viewers can follow the comedian’s smart meter journey as he has his misconceptions about the process set straight.
The series, produced by Oh My! Creative, directed by Chris Faith and delivered via media agency T&Pm, offers an entertaining glimpse into what happens on the day of a smart meter installation.

“For some households without a smart meter installed already, the process of getting one might not be totally clear,” said Victoria Bacon, Smart Energy GB’s director of communications, “I’m thrilled we have now been able to shine a light on what happens, with the help of a true British comedy legend. Johnny Vegas brings the experience to life in a new series of episodes that will be launched across our social media channels in 2025, helping to ensure that households know what to expect when they request a smart meter from their energy supplier.”
The series will be distributed as a sequenced paid campaign on YouTube and Meta and viewers will be able to experience the episodes in the order of the installation process.
